We are very excited to announce that on Sunday (March 30) farrier Mark Russell will be here to work on Maverick! We are thrilled about the opportunity to have him here and can’t thank AERO (Arizona Equine Rescue Orgnanization) enough for their assistance in organizing everything for Mark to come here! Mark is also going to show our farrier how to continue with trimming and shoeing Maverick to assist in his recovery. To find out more about Mark click here.

Once Maverick has the support his needs with shoes and such, we can then begin vigorous treatment to help break down the scar tissue in his legs. Currently any treatment to break down scar tissue just causes more scar tissue to form as he does not have the support he needs.

One way to help break down the scar tissue and assist in healing once he has his shoes on is to use a product called Rapid Response. This is $150 per gallon and can be used both internally and externally. Current estimates are that we may go through as much as 2 gallons of this a month.

Keisha and Rockie were back out from the U of A to do some more filming for the documentary. We got to see a clip of what they’ve done so far with the previous footage and love it! Thanks so much you guys! :)

They told us today that once done they will be showing it at a screening open to the public. We’ll post information on where and when as soon as we know.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter!

It was a rather nice day here, except for the wind. Keith did a Reiki treatment on Maverick. He’s been up for short periods, rather frequently ever since. We had to take the leg wraps off as with it being the 80′s his legs are sweating like crazy.

Picture of the day: Suerte and Dreamsicle begging for treats.

Happy Easter!

I did another acupressure treatment on Maverick yesterday. I got the same response again that he relaxed into and really enjoyed it. It is very encouraging that he is accepting treatments now.

We had the splint on his left leg on Thursday, but he wasn’t too happy about it. Still some mild rubbing, so we haven’t had it back on. We’ve just been wrapping his legs to give him some support.

Our thanks to Andrea Mattson for her donation. We greatly appreciate it. :)

On Saturday I did an acupressure treatment on Maverick. I have done them before, but he has always had some level of resistance to them, so I stopped. For the first time he completely accepted an acupressure treatment and relaxed into it. He was already lying down and as I worked the Ting points (the beginning or ending of meridians at the coronet band around the top of the hoof) several times he laid flat out on his side and slept. It was an awesome experience!

Sunday Maverick got another Reiki treatment. We’ve found he’s the most receptive when both Mom and I are there with him. He was very perky and upbeat.

We’d like to send out a thank you for the donation made on behalf of Kathy Breedlove.

And finally for pictures today. One of my personal horses who will contort himself into some rather interesting positions in order to get a treat.

We’d like to thank Gary and Sandie Wilde for their donation made in memory of Allison Holtry. And also to Louis Mapp for his donation. Your generosity is greatly appreciated!

Unfortunately even after several days to heal, and then padding the boots, they are still rubbing Maverick raw so he can’t wear them at all. :( He cannot stand up for as long as he was, but thankfully he’s still been up moving around and is in very good spirits.

It was great meeting everyone at the Vail Pride Days yesterday. Thanks to everyone who stopped by our table to say hello!

Maverick got another Reiki treatment this morning. He also got his boots back on, though he pulled the right one off and didn’t want it back on. He’s been up bouncing around ever since then. It is just awesome to see him like that. :)

This has been one crazy week! We attended the Sahuarita Town Hall Grand Opening Celebration on Saturday. Met some very nice people and got a chance to talk horses, which we just love!

Thank you FRY’S of SAHUARITA for the donation of a canopy! We love it, thank you so much for your support!

Maverick loves his boots, but they have started rubbing. We will have to try some different things to see if we can prevent them from doing so once he heals up a bit. First thing we are going to try is wrapping his coronet band with vet wrap. Hopefully that will provide the cushioning he needs.

We’d like to send out our thanks for donations made in memory of William Stringham and Kent Stringham. From Oliver Gilmore of Brass Hinge Antiques & Gifts in AL in honor of his daughter Stacey who told him about us. Also from Leanne Charlton. Your donations are all greatly appreciated!

Yesterday we had some students out from the U of A who have picked Equine Recline to do a documentary on for their junior film thesis! We are extremely excited and can’t wait to see the result. We will post the video once it is completed and we have a copy.

Say a huge hello and welcome to Keith Vincent our new Director of Public Relations! Thank you God! :D We are very excited and grateful to have Keith on board.

Tomorrow we will be at the Vail Pride Days held at the Pima County Fairgrounds. Stop by and say hi. We’d love to meet you!
