Maverick is doing good. Thanks to everyone for your prayers and all of those who have given advice. We have ordered the Hoof Health and Growth formula from For Love of the Horse again. It did such a remarkable job of helping to grow his hooves out last time, we are hoping for the same results again.

We have also ordered some French Green Clay from Walter Badet. He has some incredible testimonies on his website of horses the clay has helped. We are hoping for the same results with Maverick.

Maverick is such an incredibly brave and wonderful horse! He has been such a good boy to work on. Though he is using this as a wonderful opportunity to beg for lots of treats and sympathy! :)

We were once again beneficiaries of the Tucson Saddle Club’s charity ride held in October! We are so grateful for their generosity. :)

And the money came at the perfect time. We have no idea how he managed to do it, but yesterday we went out to find that Maverick has sliced up his coronet band and sheared off about 2 inches of hoof down to the inner tissue. So instead of the fencing, and other things we were dreaming of being able to do, instead we thankfully have the money to make sure Maverick will get what he needs to get this healed up.

We will be putting Maverick back on the Hoof Health and Growth formula from For Love of the Horse. Right now the major challenge is cleaning and wrapping the hoof. We are thankful for small things, one of which is that Maverick did this on his right leg, not the left. Which makes treatment, wrapping, etc much easier.

Maverick is such an incredible brave guy! He has been awesome about cooperating with us and not fussing, even though we know it’s got to hurt like crazy.

Even though we do have the money from the Tucson Saddle Club, we continue to need donations for the running of Equine Recline, plus this is going to be a long term injury that is going to need a lot of care. Thanks for all of your support and prayers!

Thanks to all of you, we did it!!!! We got the rental on Maverick’s splints completely paid off! Thanks to Bill & Cathy S., Helen & Bob H., Dave & Linda L., Jenny & Bruce M., and to an anonymous donor! We greatly appreciate all of your support. God Bless. :)

Also thanks to Terri H for her donation in the name of Diane Graham Photography.

Maverick is continuing to stand up for longer periods in his stall. And not just in the morning, but sometimes throughout the day and almost every evening. This is incredibly encouraging to see. Please continue to pray for his healing.

Don’t forget that with the holidays fast approaching to do your online shopping through iGive.com or goodshop.com with Equine Recline as the selected charity. Or buy gifts from our gift shop featuring the Equine Recline logo or some of the Equine Recline horses.

Dynasplint Systems, Inc. (DSI) has agreed to settle Maverick’s account which is $364.00 for the amount of $250.00 if we can send the payment in FULL by November 14, 2008. In other words we will get a discount of $114.00 by paying this off now. Every little bit helps.

We’d like to send out a HUGE thanks to Helen and Bob H, Bill and Cathy S, and Linda and Dave L for their donations!

While we haven’t seen any major changes in Maverick while on the homeopathic remedy Causticum, we are noticing that he is standing up more and for longer periods. If we stay out in the barn he will often stay standing for up to 3 hours! This is a record for him! We are going to continue with this remedy and see what happens.
