The baby boy (Shalom) is getting sooooo big! He’ll be 5 months in another couple of weeks. So hard to believe, especially after waiting for what seemed like forever for Natasha to foal. Everyone sees him just comments on how adorable he is. I have to completely agree! Not that I’m biased or anything. :)

We’d like to send a HUGE thanks out to Greg and Kathy B. Their support has just been incredible. Alf especially sends his thanks!

We really need to find some foster homes for at least a couple of the horses. These foster homes need to be willing to take on complete financial responsibility of the horses. And also understand that two of these horses are high needs horses. The one is the Peruvian Paso mare Marina. She is 20 years old and needs a home where her foster parent is willing to watch her diet, and keep her on cinnamon for her insulin resistance. She loves being groomed and pampered. She may or may not be able to be ridden, possibly by someone light.

Dreamsicle is 25 years old and severely arthritic. She can be maintained on white willow bark and/or meadowsweet but she cannot be ridden.

Suerte is 7 years old and is just hoping for that forever home to come along, or at least a foster home where he will have a job for now. He has not been started under saddle. If you are knowledgeable about starting horses under saddle and would like to foster Suerte, please contact us. Or if you are a trainer that is either willing to foster Suerte and train him or to offer your services to train him here, again please contact us.

God bless.

Our apologies to anyone who has contacted us recently and not heard back from us. We’ve been dealing with a family medical emergency. While the emergency part has been dealt with, there is still more to deal with such as testing and what, if any, treatment may be needed.

We thank you for you patience and understanding while we are going through this difficult time.

Today we had to say good-bye to Maverick.

His personality has filled and overflowed this barn for just over 4 years now. He was so very, very loved. We are grateful for the years that he spent in our lives, and will be greatly missed.

We know he is running and playing with the others we’ve lost over the years. They are celebrating him home.

We’ll see you again someday Mr. Maverick.

Maverick saying hi to Shalom.

We’d like to send our thanks out to Dr. Hutchison for his incredible compassion and gentleness with Maverick (and us) today.

Natasha

On left is Natasha when she came to Equine Recline. On right is Natasha after several months of rehab. This difference in her is just amazing! Even being here watching her throughout it is still very hard to believe it is the same horse.

Anyone feel like guessing as to when she’s due?

We had Dr. Hutchison out to do an acupuncture treatment on Sunshine last month. I have to say that Sunshine did not enjoy the treatment, but despite that we’ve seen improvement in her. Her apetite has increased as well as her attitude has improved. In addition, the herbs seem to be having more of an effect on her than they were. Which is just awesome! With all this rainy cold weather we have had to give her Bute several times as the herbs were just not strong enough to help with her arthritis. But we are hoping that she won’t be needing that any more.

Natasha just keeps getting bigger and bigger. Her udder has begun filling in and expanding, so she could be having the baby very soon, or maybe not. LOL Pregnant mares are never easy to predict when they are going to foal, even when you know their breeding dates.

Thanks go out to Dan and Polly for their generous donation!

And to Kathy B for her donation in honor of Karyn and Alec’s engagement. :) Congrats you guys!

Maverick and Sunshine are living together. Those two have just had this bond between them from the day they met, almost 4 years ago. They both like being by themselves, yet love being able hang out and do things like eat together. Maverick is definitely in charge, so when he’s had enough of Sunshine pestering him he lets her know and she backs off.

They are so cute together. They will often eat out of the same tub, and pull it back and forth from each other. Of course they only will do this when I don’t have a camera present!

Natasha is really recovering wonderfully. She has some wounds on her legs that are healing up very nicely. It was hard to tell how extensive they were at first, but since using the clay on the wounds, we’ve been able to see they weren’t as bad as we thought and are healing up. They’ve got nice pink tissue to them. And we’ve decided that when the bandaging is removed and it stinks, it just means that the clay is working. The more I use the clay, the more I love it!

Natasha’s tummy seems to just keep expanding. She’s beginning to look like she’s about to pop. It’s just amazing how big they can get. And she probably isn’t even done yet!

Happy New Year!

Have to get used to writing a new year date again. I keep finding myself writing/typing ’01 instead of ’10. Oh well, it will eventually seem normal.

We’d like to send out a HUGE thanks to the following people for their generous donations:

Sara S

Leanne C

Karyn and her fiancee Alec

We could not do what we do without your support and encouragement.

Natasha is recovering beautifully. She is a very lovely little mare, and is quite eager to please. She LOVES being praised and told how wonderful she is. Though she likes carrots even more. :) She is putting on weight, though it all just seems to be going to the tummy!

May God bless all of you richly throughout this new year.
