There hasn’t been much going on here lately to report. The weather has been rather unusual here lately, a bit cooler than normal with the highs only in the 90’s instead of over 100. I have to admit it has been rather nice. But the hot weather has come once again and it seems our reprieve is over.
We are going to be starting Maverick on a supplement called Equine Leg Magic. It has apparently been used with some success on horses with contracted tendons.

Thank you to Marjorie B for her donation of a weed wacker! It is so greatly appreciated to help keep the tumble weeds from taking over.
Second we’d like to thank the Swingin’ Saddlebabes for their donation from their calendar sales.

Alf is doing great! He’s pretty much fully recovered and back to his normal self. He’s even been trotting around, and back to tossing his head as he walks. Thanks to everyone for all your prayers! And thank you God for Alf’s recovery.

We are pleased that Alf is continuing to improve. His appetite is back up to normal and his movement is improving. He was actually doing a slow trot into his stall the other day! We are believing and praying for an even greater recovery.
With the down turn in the economy we are seeing more horses in desperate need of homes and people who are normally so supportive have to step back and think about where their money is going.
Unfortunately this is meaning that there are fewer places for horses in need to go; with rescues either shutting down or full up with no room to take in more. The number of adoptions are down, meaning fewer spaces opening up at rescues to take in other horses in need.
We believe as a community, as a group of people that love and are passionate about horses, through unity, we can continue to provide a safe haven for horses whether short term or long. We believe we can make a difference. And we can make that difference because of you.
Whether you choose to make a one time donation of any amount, or whether you decide to become an Equine Recline Champion and donate on a monthly basis, you are part of that difference.
We thank you for your generosity and your support.
God Bless.

Just wanted to update everyone on Alf. He’s been slowly improving since his seizure. His appetite is back to normal and he’s nickering up a storm.
He does have some lingering issues with his rear end with walking correctly, but we are continuing to hope and pray that it will all correct itself.
Thanks everyone for your prayers and please continue with them.

Well we just had a very weird weekend here. On Saturday a wonderful lady we’ve met named Mimi came out to do some massage and bioscan light therapy treatment on Maverick. Before she came out we’d noticed that Alf was walking a bit weird in the rear end and couldn’t seem to control it really well. We asked Mimi to take a look at him.
To make a very long story short, Alf was having a seizure that got much worse before it got better. We had called a vet to come out and humanely euthanize him as we didn’t think he was going to recover; but it was going to be another hour or more before the vet arrived. Alf was laying on the ground with the 3 of us next to him. When he began convulsing we began praying over him.
Within minutes of us beginning to pray for him he suddenly tried to get up, which he’d been doing unsuccesfully. This time however he popped right up and tried to go bolting off through the front gate that was open! He gave a huge body shake, and his eyes were completely clear, bright, and he looked completely fine.
This was not the result we were expecting! Not that we are complaining by any means, but what a shock! To say the least we ended up canceling the vet.
He still has some lingering effects from the seizure, occasionally he can’t control his rear end and his appetite is not quite up to normal. But he is back to nickering, begging for his fruits and veggies.
So just keep Alf in your prayers. The vet thinks it just may be old age and there is a possibility that he will seize again. We are hoping and praying not.
